Blog Tour for Rock Bottom by RK Lilley

BLOG TOUR

Title: Rock Bottom

Author: R.K. Lilley

Published: Nov. 25, 2013

Hosted by: The Book Avenue

Synopsis

ROCK BOTTOM
BOOK TWO:  TRISTAN & DANIKA

Their love had the power of a runaway freight train, and the potential to be just as destructive.
The tempestuous sequel to Bad Things picks up where the first book left off.  Reeling from a profound loss, Tristan and Danika struggle to pick up the pieces and build a life together, but the hard habits of a lifetime are not so easy to escape.
Rock Bottom takes us on a dual point of view journey through addiction and desire, through love and agony, and answers the question we’ve been asking since these characters were introduced in Grounded: “What happened between Tristan and Danika?”

DANIKA
Even love couldn’t cushion a fall like ours.  My love for Tristan was so big that I felt consumed by it, and even so, it was not enough to overpower our combined demons.
I struggled.  I yelled and screamed.  I scratched and kicked.
I fought like hell, but even the most determined fighters have to stop before they break.
No one could say I didn’t fight for him.
“I love you,” I spoke softly into his ear.
He gripped me harder.  “I can’t ever lose you, Danika.  I’m not sure I’d survive it.”
“You’ve got me.  And I’m not going anywhere.  Not ever.”
I meant the words when I said them, but life had other plans for us.
I’d have given my life for that fight.  In fact, I very nearly did.

TRISTAN
She was the one.
If I’d ever had a doubt, I didn’t now.  She was the one I’d be thinking about, longing for, until I took my last breath.  If I lost her tomorrow, I’d pine for her like a lovesick fool.
This was the kind of love that only hit you once in your life.

This book is intended for readers 18 and up.

“Please,” I cried, quickening my pace.

He worked me faster, and I froze and shook like I had a fever, letting the waves of rapture take me. I felt him jerking inside of me as I cam back down from the addictive high, his face arrested in his own gratifying release. I love to watch him come, and I held as I could, impaled on him, until his eyes opened, and he blinked up at me.

I folded down to lay against him, burying my face in the side of his neck, breathing him in.

He always smelled divine. Like home.

“I love you,” he rasped out. He said it all the time. He didn’t hold it back, now that he’d admitted it, but it still gave me butterflies, every single time.

“I love you,” I spoke softly to his ear.

He gripped me harder. I can’t ever lose you, Danika. I’m not sure I’d survive it.”

“You’ve got me. And I’m not going anywhere. Not ever.”

I meant the words when I said them, but life had other plans for me.

I was by nature, a fighter, and no one could say I didn’t fight for us.

I’d have given my life for that fight.

In fact, I very nearly did.

Blog Tour for The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely

BLOG TOUR

The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely
Book #1 No Regret Series
Release Date: November 21, 2013

SYNOPSIS

A new adult story of Love. Sex. Addiction. Blackmail. And Power...

Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it's the thing that makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about love...Love isn't patient, love isn't kind. Love is a game, a chase. A thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight for themselves. At least that's how it was for me. A high-priced virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love and to sex. Even though I've never had either. I controlled love, played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands. Then I fell down from those highs, and I'm being blackmailed for all my mistakes, forced to keep secrets from everyone, except the only guy I don't regret.

Trey...

With all the other women, I knew what they were. They were temporary. They were pills, they were bottles, they took away all the pain, and numbed the awful memories that wore down my ragged, wasted heart. Until I met Harley. She's the only girl I ever missed when she walked away. But now she's back in my life, every day, and there are no guarantees for us, especially since I don't know how to tell her my secrets. What happened to my family. All I know is she's the closest I've ever come to something real, and I want to feel every second of it.

How can you love with no regrets when regret is all you know?

Interview with the Author:

1. When and how did you get into writing?

Ah, I wish I could tell you how I picked up a pencil at age four and penned my first novel then. Alas, I became a writer after working as a journalist for many years and then deciding I would rather make up the endings than stick to the facts.

2. Do you need to have anything when you are writing?

A computer.
And yes, that’s all I really need. I’ve been known to write on planes, in coffee shops, in libraries, in waiting rooms, in a parked car while waiting to pick up the kids. Write anywhere because you have to!

3. What made you write the NO REGRETS series, as it is different to what you have written before?

Addiction fascinates me as a writer and as a person. Addiction is one of the most powerful and powerless forces in the world. Like many of us, I have known and loved people who are addicted to different things. I also think sex and love addiction is one of the least understood addictions, and I wanted to explore it in a way that showed the true nature of it.

4. How do you come up with your story lines and characters?

Great question! Every book is different! Trophy Husband was inspired by the playful idea of, just that, a trophy husband. Playing With Her Heart stems from my love of theater. Far Too Tempting was borne from my desire to be a rock star (though I have no musical talent). The Thrill of It was inspired by a postcard I saw in the Post Secrets series (http://www.postsecret.com/) in which people anonymously confess their secrets on postcards

5. What do you do for fun?

I read! I play with my dogs! Spend time with my kids and go on adventures seeking out awesome bakeries and coffee shops!

6. Do you base any of your characters on people you know?

Some of them share traits of people I know. Jane’s son in Far Too Tempting is based a bit on my son, and a lot of Bryan’s sense of humor in Caught Up In Us is inspired by my husband. Sutton’s dog in Pretending He’s Mine is based on my chihuahua, and McKenna’s dog in Trophy Husband is based on a dog of mine too. Oh, you meant people :)

7. What makes you happy?

Family, music, sunshine, laughing, pizza, cookies, hopeful stories about the world, cute clothes, popcorn, paintings, beauty, fluffy socks, and hearing from readers.

8. What do you have planned for 2014?

I’ll be releasing the sequel to THE THRILL OF IT in late February. It is called EVERY SECOND WITH YOU. And I have several books planned after that - some romantic comedy, some angsty, all sexy.

9. What has been your biggest achievement so far?

My children.

10. Who is your hero/heroine?

That is such a great question and there are so many people I admire, so I’m actually going to say something a bit left of center for this. My heroes are my dogs because they are happy, loyal and always in a good mood.

About THE START OF US:

A new adult story of First Times. Last Times. Connections. And No Regrets...
I only wanted a tattoo. A mark on my body to remind me of who I used to be. Something to hold onto when I started my penance for all the things I’d done wrong, the bad choices I’d made by the time I turned nineteen. Instead, I found a night of possibility, of truth, of hope for the future. And the most intense physical connection I’ve ever had.
The only one I’ve ever had, and one I will never forget.
Trey...
When she walked into my tattoo shop, I knew she was like me. Harley had secrets. She had a messed-up past, and things she wanted to run from, or forget ever happened. I couldn’t let her go. So we agreed on one night – to spend it together wandering around the city, getting to know each other, the clock ticking because we knew tomorrow would bring an end to the possibility of an us.
Unless tonight was only the start.
How can one night be the start of something when tomorrow it has to end?

"There will be inquiries." I choked out. "I am not such a nonentity that nothing will be done when I am missed. You will pay for what you have done."

"Pay?" His amused look sent a cold feeling of dread through me. "I have already paid… in gold that matches your hair, my gazelle. Besides," he continued, "the French Government has no jurisdiction over me. There is no authority here above my own."

My trepidation was growing every passing minute. "Why have you done this? Why brought me here?"

"Why?" He repeated with a slow and heated appraisal that made me acutely, almost painfully, conscious of my sex. "Bon Dieu! Are you not woman enough to know?"

Excerpt

He chuckled lowly, a smug and self-satisfied sound. "Say it now, ma chère," he softly demanded. "Tell me you want this above all things. Tell me you want me."
I did. Desperately, but it was only the fleeting lust of the flesh that I craved—not him. Never him. "You have forced this upon me," I hissed in a rage of frustration. "This means nothing—proves nothing."
"As you will….I can be a patient man— when I choose to be."
His weight shifted away from me, and then it was gone from the bed. He removed the blindfold and then gave a single tug on the silk cord binding me to the bed. My arms instantly released from above my head, and then just as suddenly, he freed my legs.
I instantly scrambled to my knees, dragging the silken coverings up around me as if their thin shelter were a protection. "Are you finished with me now?" I asked breathlessly.
"Finished?" His expression was mixed mockery and mirth. "Par bleu! I have hardly even begun, but for now, I shall leave you in peace." He strode to the curtained doorway only to turn back to me with a sardonic bow. "Bonne nuit et doux rêves, ma chérie."
He had left me alone. Alone in a state of dazed bewilderment and intense sexual frustration—for I knew damned well what I was feeling— and it made me want to screech and claw and rail.
The man was a mystery, an unfathomable enigma. My mind could not reconcile his barbaric ways with the evidence of his education and refinement. I had noticed a dozen incongruities in him—his cultured speech, the well-worn books in the tent, the elegant and fastidious order of his appointments. His cruel words and contradictory tender touch crowded my recollection until my head reeled, yet I was too tired to puzzle it out, too spent in mind and body.
I did not know what would come on the morrow but gave in to my exhaustion and sank  into a cocoon of covers. In the course of a single day, my entire being had irrevocably changed. At long last, and with the greatest possible resistance, I was learning obedience and humility—at the hands of this incomprehensible savage.

Review (by Diane):

I was given an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.

JS Cooper has outdone herself with this book. This is the 4th installment in the Forever Love series.

Noah is a deeper and darker person now when he returns from his time away. He has seen the wrong side of people. He is a kind and caring person who tries to help. He is confused and tries to hide his feelings and thoughts from those who love him.

He discovers that he is not alone and that his family and friends will help him in whatever he needs, from his love life to his other affairs.

This a great book and differes from her usual style. LOVE IT.

EXCERPT

“Hey, Jeremy,” I slur.  The alcohol was definitely bringing out my inner bravado.
“Hey Ava.”  He smiles at me and I melt.  I feel like I could slide right off the stool and pool on the floor in a big alcoholic puddle.  “What’s going on?” He says nodding towards the Patron.
“Nothing much.” I slur again and then use my fingers to shove my tongue back in my mouth and wipe away any escaping drool at the same time.
“Want some company?”  He grins cheekily and all I can do is stare at his mouth; hypnotized.  I’m pretty sure my tongue is hanging out but I can’t do anything about it.  My reflexes are too slow and besides, Jeremy is just too delicious.
He chuckles, snapping me out of my reverie, and slides onto the stool beside me.
As we finish off the bottle of tequila together, we start to flirt.  Harmlessly at first, but then things start getting heated.  I shift in my seat as he blows in my ear and whispers something that I can’t make out.  It doesn’t matter though, it’s still hot as hell.
“I need to pee,” I slur.  Wobbling as I stand, I make my way slowly outside, towards the ladies room.  Once there, I use the facilities and try to give myself a pep talk.  I need to calm down.  Focus.  Sober up a bit so I can enjoy Jeremy and actually remember having this time with him in the morning.  I wash my hands and walk out, running smack bang into a hard wall of warm solidness.
“Sorry,” I giggle before looking up into the hypnotizing clear blue eyes of Jeremy.  He grips me around the waist and pushes me back into the wall.  His hand travels down my leg, pausing at my knee to lift up.  Automatically, I curl my limb around his waist.  He leans in and I smell his sweet, warm, alcohol induced breath as it mingles with mine for a split second before he touches his lips to mine.  I moan involuntarily and then gasp as he grinds his hardness against my softness.  His tongue sweeps in and teases mine in an erotic dance.  My hands dive into his soft chocolate brown hair and I grip and tug causing a deep groan to rise from his throat.
“Get a room, Henley,” a voice calls as they walk by.  I immediately drop my leg and push him back slightly.  We’re both panting heavily.  I try my hardest to focus.  I’m so turned on its unbelievable.  I would have let him take my virginity right then and there if we hadn’t been interrupted.  But, we were.  I take a deep breath and stumble back inside ignoring him calling my name.
